That is not enchantment. We are part of the folk against Fascism movement which stands very much against them. Is like saying if fascists and bad actors use music, then music is suspect.
with "folk practices against evil shit", i'm on board. but also yes: music is suspect. any immersive, "authentic" art is. which can't mean "no more art", that'ld be silly. but: no claiming "truth". authentic inauthenticity. insistence on reflexivity. art as no excuse for atavistic impulses, ever.
Just noticed where you are from, and that context explains rather a lot regarding your concerns, and why you have thoughts very much worth listening to on this.
Thank you. The difference is already present between Morris Dancing and such beautiful things on the isles, and our bloody Krampus (=seriously drunk young men, disciplinary society, masks, and fireworks. What can go wrong?)
We have an active Krampus culture here as well but is just the right amount of darkness and does not shade into anything ugly as far as I have seen. I've worked with some of them and the emphasis is on nature and creativity.
My folkloric art is based on experience and inner life Inspired by experience of the world. I'm not part of any "pagan path," as they tend to be populated by people trying to build some sad sort of power base. That does not mean I am indifferent to magic.
