Oh, you mean like the false narrative of how BigOil had invented personal carbon footprints and hence, no one should analyse their personal impact? False bc if our livestyles don't require analysis from us, we also don't need to look for alternatives. That's a perfect alibi for StatusQuo and NiMBY.

Even this seems optimistic. We’ve been stubbornly above 1.5C for well over a year. Scientists thought we’d see a decrease after the El Niño. Not only has it stayed warm, there is now appearing a growing probability of another El Niño on the horizon. We could be over +2.0C in a few years. Not 2050.

They (Winkelmann et al.) use a climate sensitivity of 3.1°C to estimate the 10000GtC needed to melt basically all ice. This ecs is close to to the central estimate of ipcc ar6. Haven’t seen any recent new estimates of higher ecs. Fingers crossed.
