I grew up in Richmond, and moved elsewhere, and the thing that I really took for granted was the ability to have cheap delicious food at any hour of the day! Even Vancouver, places close earlier and are either fancier or crappy. Midnight all you can eat sushi? No problem.
Coming from Victoria, Richmond is amazing. Followed by Crystal Mall and the surrounding area in Burnaby. The food here in Victoria all comes from the same Sysco warehouse.
Not to invalidate your point, but don’t forget about local businesses from foreigners that bring some variety. My area has a very white-dominant population and taste, and despite that it has a couple restaurants that bring culture from first-gen immigrants to here. Just gotta look hard sometimes. 😔
