Best wishes - that must be hard for you. Is there perhaps an opportunity to share the plot? That’s what my dad did and it sustained his allotment gardening for several more years.

No it isn't really. I've looked into all the various options but none of them works in the circs. Also, the main problem is just getting to the site, which is in what used to be walking distance but now a rather awkward bus trip. But I'd quite like one final season (wd be my 20th) if poss.

We had to give up our plot a few years ago because we just weren't fit enough and we still miss it - a wee oasis in the city.

And they're such lovely places. The neighbour relation with other plotters suits my cast of mind.
Did you replace your plot visits with something else, or just pull back? I've been trying to think what to do instead (I don't want to volunteer or do groupstuff).

Started a wee craft class recently with only about 8-10 women, just to have something to do. We went to the plot a lot, especially during the summer and find we have a lot of time on our hands but haven't really found anything to fill the space.

I thought of taking an interest in the nearby woodland path - a bit of litterpicking and maybe tweaking some of the vegetation, planting a few things on the sly etc. A way of being out in the world and having casual chats with passersby a bit like a plot. but IDK.

I think it is important to fill up the time and even pass the time of day with other people. Until I started the craft class, I had become a bit isolated because I suddenly hadn't anywhere to go. My husband also misses the chats with other men at the allotment.

It will be fine, I believe in leaving the plot to itself over winter and let nature take its course, and to give it and wildlife a free rein! Just take it section by section, and all will be well! Can always plant fruit and herb bushes in areas, which take care of themselves to lighten the load.

Aye, I do all that. But I'm old and suddenly the last couple of years very weak, and it has all gone beyond. It's like the pic below, only the all those neatly barked paths are jungly weeds. Still, as you say, I have plenty fruit and perennials (and my leeks and permanent cabbage are OK hooray) so☺️
