High-performing coaches and athletes are celebrated and receive a lot of funding. At the same time, high-performing educators and students are not celebrated at the same level and probably have to make it work on a more modest budget.
Statistically, the number of college athletes that go on to play professionally is very small. However, the number of students that go on to have careers has to be close to 100%. I think there is an opportunity for us to align the incentives with activities that have a broader impact on society.
Hate to be That Guyâ„¢, but I'd like to see sources included with these kind of things. Otherwise it's not any more credible than the stuff the other side spews constantly.
This is quite funny. Shows what is valued in our society. College Football programs are massive for-profit businesses disguised as state run non-profits.
