Been using a M4 Pro Mac Mini past couple of weeks. Sensational hardware, but I truly don't understand the desktop experience. How is navigating folders so bad? Why is screenshotting things terrible? This is exactly what my Mac experience boils down to, excellent hardware but frustrating software/UX. And the keyboard layout is not ideal.

I can live with the kb (just mentally remapping the Windows key, minimal friction) but it's just all of the UX. Windowing is mid, no clipboard history, no great navigation shortcuts, it's just all "ehhh".

I want to love it, but I can't. Ten years since I last daily-drove a Mac so was hoping.

FWIW I agree on the out of the box Mac OS experience not being great. However, the ecosystem around 3rd party tooling to enhance the OS is truly exceptional, and way better than windows IMO.

I kinda got dragged back into MacOS recently, too. Tons of little annoyances. Finder is still so terrible. Feel like it actively works against me constantly.

Screenshotting is the almost the same? For me slightly better because you can set it up for the future.

Resolution scaling is there?

Scaling only works on MacBooks or Apple Displays apparently (I've got a 57" 8k G9 and it refuses to give me scaling options).

I mean there's no global nav - you can apple+shift+g to easily navigate - but only once finder is in focus - I can't use spotlight to jump to the file system.

Screenshot wise? Windows is way ahead with snipping tool despite similar feature-set.

Super inconsistent experience. Pure ergonomic thing.
