4) Wars: RIGHT - at least talking about wanting to end global wars and avoid future conflicts. WRONG - betraying our allies and rewarding malevolent bullies.

5) Trade: RIGHT - advancing dialogue on how to better support American jobs and wages through tweaks in trade policy. WRONG - slapping high indiscriminate tariffs on allies for no good reason, based on trade deals he negotiated.
Democrats shouldn't be afraid to agree with productive and popular policies and fight like hell against destructive and unpopular ones. Will require a reconfiguration of the party, which is necessary.
No, the top 1%, billionaires and Corporations need to pay more. To many loopholes and ways to hide money offshore, crypto and shell companies. The last time we had a balanced budget was with Clinton and Newt, if I remember right the highest tax rate was 39.5% which nobody ever payed.
Also the last time NJ had a balanced budget was Gov. Florio. I really believe the Dems. are more Fiscally responsible. I not saying there is no waste and some jobs shouldn't be cut. do you want to cut school lunches, medical care for special needs children, cut veterans care, cut NOAA etc.
That is why we have congress but #MAGA cannot legislate. So a unelected ketamine fueled junkie with teenagers and bros, going to all these departments looking at things that they don't know or have enough understanding to make cuts with a swipe of a key is illegal. Someone needs to go to jail.
The Dems really are more Fiscally responsible and it's one of the best kept secrets in politics. They had to clean up after Reagan, W. Bush and Trump 1. Unfortunately, they've been poor at controlling the narrative
All your "right" points are disingenuous in this administration. That's their talking points to distract and disguise all your "wrong" points. Many of you trying to find common ground with trump in a traditional way are wasting your energy for what really needs to be done. I wish better for you all.
Democrats don't know how to play this game, and their core base would never let them. A guy like Cuomo who could definitely take Trump on a fight, they shoot him down. I'm not defending Cuomo at all, but who's the perfect character who can play this game of bigger&bigger lies and defeat Trump at it?
In Spain, left-centrist Sanchez can to play the game, all the theatrics, and the hard left hate him. But his #2 in govt manages a coalition of the rest of the left. In a 2-party system, Sanchez would have been decapitated by his own party, no doubt, bc the extremes are ruling parties these days.
In the UK, like the US, Labour are also held to standards Tories never were. Starmer had to answer for more issues as LOTO, about antisemitism, trans rights, unions, etc, than the govt. Had BoJo not f* up so massively, Starmer would never have been elected just being a decent, sensible politician.
Anyway, all this to say: centrists and left wingers look lost these days. But left-centrists in particular look particularly frozen, powerless and voiceless. I often wondered what happened before WWII, but maybe we all now have a grasp of how evil emerges, grows, and good people stand by, silent.
Not the point you are making here, but after your recent podcast comments about who in the US is on the 'right' side nowadays, I was reminded of this sketch from one of the UK's best comedy partnerships, David Mitchell and Robert Webb. Might raise a wry smile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToKcmnrE5oY
If you agree with one of their policies it only leads to another policy that is more damaging than the first one, they put out a crazy idea to distract from the real one they are going to use...
As a Canadian I haven't felt like this since 9/11 when America got attacked on its own soil. It was disorienting and frightening.I feel that same way now. The U.S. and Russia are allies and now Canada and the USA are enemies. Never saw it coming. Just like 9/11.
