So very true. We writers do our work in solitude, and so often have no idea what impact, if any, we're having on people's lives. After going through the process myself, I always reach out to artists whose work touched me.

Once had one of my books described and recommended to me by a friend of a friend at a house party (they didn't know I wrote it) and full agreement there. We hang onto this stuff, like... forever. 😂

I once wrote Tracy Chevalier after reading several books of hers and shared how I was so enthralled with them. I felt somewhat silly doing it but was compelled. SHE WROTE ME BACK and thanked me and I was so happy to know she ready my random email and was so happy she enjoyed hearing from me.

I messaged a local teacher who is an author that I LOVED her book, and the cliff hanger had me on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait for the sequel. She was so happy to see that!

Sequel comes out in May! Can’t wait!

Hi! I'd start with their website. Some authors list a P.O. box or another way to contact them. Heck, even "just" an email or tag on social media would personally make *my* day, so yeah.
