I had never seen this game, I'm going down a rabbit hole learning about it and the other PS1 version The Bombing Islands, this is neat!! We're actually heavily inspired by Kirby 64's Checkerboard Chase minigame, we're wokring on making it a full-blown party game with a lot more bells and whistles :D

Yeah! It's a really cool core game concept, and already with DDrop's character controllers allowing for more precise movement, there's a ton more depth in the gameplay for strategies like peeking (firing on one row from another row); we haven't even added items yet! Here's something cool btw:

We got shown as a mystery game in Combo Breaker 2022, and you can see how hype the game was despite folks barely knowing ANY of the advanced mechanics such as smooching, peeking, or even the normal mechanics like "walking across diagonal corners" XD

We had a lot of fun! Character customization was a really good time, we got a decent way through the easy parts of the checklist in this one session. The game itself is great, both of us being veterans of the vs. puzzler, feels real good. The only hurdle was doing controller config, with-

my funny D-Input controller getting double registered while using Steam Play Together, but once we cleared that out, the rest of the session went perfectly. The web platforms are interesting, and we're excited to see where it goes from here!
