something something don't speak ill of the dead but with Connolly passing that's 3 dems who've died in office this year and i think it's long last time we have a major reckoning with political age limits and the "lifer politician"

I sincerely believe there is no longer a chance at rehabilitation for the Democrats. they're pushing out the youth and turning their back on minorities and betraying social progressive movements
they worship power and cling to their seats with no regard to the people they serve
As independent news sources have pointed out: career politicians will always favor their career over progress. Not delivering on their promises in full & delaying with a till next time or making some excuse is so bloody common as a way to bargain to keep their position for the next political term.
A side tangent but the dnc in response to a class action about primaries rigging/favoring a particular candidate, dnc lawyers argued they were private corporations and can make, disregard and/or change their rules to suit their own needs/candidate of choice/coronation.
I'm more posting it, since the suing and subsequent details likely less televised/publicized by 'mainstream' corporate media since it doesn't suit their narratives.
I'd want both age limits and term limits for federal offices so we have more turnover rate of people in politics and not career politicians who will cling to their seats of power as it's their only source who prepare for retirement with stock market manipulations.
What's needed here is lifting the artificial cap on the HOR. If done, Dems would have far more reps than GOP. The artificial cap keeps GOP competitive. End it.
Naive take. The one-vote margin was choreographed so some hardcore Rs could vote no or present or not at all, & still have it pass. If Ds had 3 more votes, it just would have been choreographed differently with same margin.
75 year old Connolly should have left office earlier. He should have nurtured and mentored people aged 30-50 to take on his role. Old baby boomers refusing to leave office is a major factor in the current demise of the USA.
you're right for it, though. this needs to be said, and it needs to be said everywhere.
yeah, a person died. people die every day. it's a waste of time to dawdle around for a month out of feigned and arbitrary "respect" before saying the thing.
if my mom can say "well it's closure and we can start healing" at my grandmother's funeral, we can talk about lifer politicians dying in office being a massive problem.
There's this foolish idea that age=wisdom or some shit, but really the US needs a forced retirement age for public office.
This is the 7th death in office we've had in 2 years. Plus the missing Republican Rep who was found in an assisted living facility, plus McConnell and others spacing out.
I don't hate the idea of a career politician in principle. Like... we've all seen that "I'm an outsider" just means "I have no qualifications" like... we need expertise and know-how in politics just like any other field. But that career shouldn't be LIFELONG.

vote them all out
there are so many things that need fixing. if they made progress folks would be more energized!

I'm aware they're playing their own game
