Mocking them openly at this point only solidifies anti-vax adherence. Break the science down to easily chewed bits. Treat the encounter like cult deprogramming. Don't argue. Inform and watch for new openings for dialog.
A conspiracy mindset might help with vaccinations. The new government doesn’t want people to know about vaccinations. Also, why can’t pharmaceutical companies sell vaccines as ‘preventive supplements’? RFK Jr loves unregulated supplements and unproven pharmaceuticals. He should get on board.
I see this as a continuation of a long running pattern of over-generalization. McCarthy: Klaus Fuchs was a known Communist spy, therefore any American who was ever associated with the Communist Party is a traitor. Reagan: Linda Taylor defrauded the US government, therefore anyone on welfare is /1
a cheat. RFK Jr.: There have been a (small) number of people who have had adverse reactions to vaccines, therefore all vaccines are unsafe. Trump: There have been (a few) immigrants who have committed crimes, therefore all immigrants are criminals. This is the crux of conservative rhetoric. 2/2
