I blame 15+ years of brute-force propaganda, aided by clueless fad-chasing celebrities. I distinctly remember back in 2010 when Jenny McCarthy was making an ass of herself, thinking "gee it'll be great when the antivaxxers move on to some other stupid new age "wellness" fad." Joke was on me.

Don’t bother trying to explain to them how CRISPR was discovered and created and how it enhanced DNA based vaccines and will likely assist in one day having a vaccine for cancers… 😢 This shit is fucking amazing! 👍
