Did you ask the club to explain the policy Liam or for a reaction to your criticisms?
I was able to buy tickets for the games I can get to, including 2 together in the Yale Stand for Birmingham.
I bought a ticket for Blackpool 30 mins before kick off.
So for me, part timer, it’s working well.

I’ve no idea what the strategy is here but I’d imagine they have discussed this so there should be a data based rationale. My experience suggests some of the heat is going out of the ticket buying experience. They used to all go immediately. Now they don’t.

I wouldn’t disagree, there’s a queue of people waiting to jump on any hint of negativity around the club, so explaining things in advance would seem a sensible strategy.

Liam, is the issue that all three games were released at one time, so if you wanted to get tickets to all three games, you had to buy them at one time? I'm assuming the issue is buying at one time rather than three separated times. Is that right?

Williamson's core skill is maximising stadium revenue. The message this sends, is that he knows he can sell out the Racecourse. He doesn't care to whom. It's the same as cancelling ticket office sales. Why bother with ticket office staff when you know you can sell every seat online? Fuck the locals.

...there's no business incentive to look after locals. They know we'll still be here when the majority of Yanks have lost interest (no disrespect intended towards our new US fans). Williamson doesn't understand the depth or complexity of our relationship with the club. We're just a "customer base".

The irony is I’m only a casual fan now but it was easy for me to get a Birmingham ticket with no membership - not much more than a year ago I’d have had no chance. So there’s a danger that he’s appealing more to people who can take it or leave it, which could backfire long term #wxmafc

The problem starts when the Kop work starts unless the Fourth Wall can stay while they start although I'd be surprised if that starts in the summer. No sign of a new plan and planning permission isn't quick these days if it's a significant change.

Yeah you’ll see the debate flip back again then, when members have paid and it’s too hard to get a ticket rather than too easy! It has never given value to those who bought it. Also inclined to think there will be at least one more year of the current Kop, it’s gone quiet on what happens next.

To get spade ready by the end of the season they at least needed to have planning amendments or new permission in by Christmas I would have thought. They got it right with the scraping of the fan zone charge but not sure about this strategy.

Yep. Footie fans (not just Wxm fans) will tolerate a ridiculous amount, because of our love for the club...but that tolerance isn't infinite. We're not stupid. We can see when they're taking us for mugs.

Great piece, Liam. I spent £312 yesterday. I can afford it, but Wrexham is an economically deprived area; most people living hand-to-mouth on a weekly wage...and skint after Christmas. This is a cynical cost-saving measure by the club.
Tone deaf. Shows a lack of understanding of our Town. Shoddy.
