Here’s a thread of books I’ve read in 2025 that I’ll keep adding to, in case there are fellow family saga lovers out there to share and recommend. First up, fun and easy bc that’s what I needed. Emily Henry’s Happy Place.

Turtle House by @amandachurchill.bsky.social - which I had read in manuscript form years ago for Reese Witherspoon’s LitUp committee for marginalized voices. Fun to read it in its final iteration. Still thinking about the grandma.
The Women by Kristin Hannah. I wanted to see what the hype was about. I needed a reliable story narrative. It was interesting to read about American nurses in Vietnam, but there was much contrived about the love(s) in this story. Might I suggest The Mountains Sing by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai instead?
Same As it Ever Was by Claire Lombardo was excellent. Fiction writing/ family saga at its finest. I LOVE the way she writes- so observant, so emotional. Her previous book (The Most Fun We Ever Had) was also fantastic.
Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson. Oof, this was a SAGA. Many twists and turns. Lots to learn about Caribbean diaspora. Forever love food stories laden with rich family legacy.
