I have no personal experience with cooperatives AFAIK. However, on the surface yes, democratically controlled business seems like a good idea. More of us will have a say in where profits lead, or how often we sell out to the USA bids on Canadian companies.
There are many studies that cover cooperative enterprises. The aggregate findings are that they improve economic resiliency for workers and communities. Increases in worker satisfaction, productivity, and employment stability are often found when comparing them with conventional ownership.
