To be "anonymus" online has never been possible. Once the LE want your ip adress, they got you.
The only way to go under the radar, is to not break the law.
Think about like when Hitler tried to exterminate the Jews, or when Pol Pot had college students executed. America is dealing with fascism right now, and the ruling party really dislikes queers, Hispanics, and Black people.
Well, the fascists are currently in the middle of making being queer illegal again. They're using ancient laws to arrest and deport US citizens who aren't the right skin color. They're actively criminalizing women who have had to or have chosen to get abortions.
Illegal existence.
With the way their government LOVES to spy and invade other countries, yes.
If there's a militar base or any form of US based power in your country, they'll consider the person a terrorist, add them to a list, and when they can, throw the book over them (or worse).
I'm sure we'll start seeing people in other countries get disappeared by American agencies, only for them to somehow mysteriously end up in the US on trial, if they even reach there.
Might have people just vanish forever (stuck in gitmo if they're lucky).
Further to this, the US already doesn't respect its own laws, half the laws of other countries, and considers 2 nations to be nothing more than potential territories for it. It's not much of a step further for them to just kidnap citizens of other nations to put on show trial, to threaten and deter.
With the FBI moving to label people who want to be left alone as 'extremists' there really isn't any room left to make any kind of post not a threat in the eyes of the state.
When Facebook was first starting to gain momentum back in 2008 the mere *thought* of using your real name and address online was such an alien concept to me. I only made an account reluctantly for school back then, and I straight up deleted the account in 2019 once I got out into the workforce.
The other day I brought up the oddity of an app for local services making us use our real names and the people in the discord where it was suggested kept insisting this was good actually. I can't comprehend how that would be safe to put your real name out there to people on your immediate area.
It's so weird to me. They acted like I was being somehow unreasonable to want an app where goods are exchanged in offline life to not use a real name and nobody saw how that could possibly be an issue or a security risk.
yeah i have to agree with the consensus in the comments here, we're all going to fucking die to these fascists wearing human suits anyway. not voicing our discontent just means democracy goes out with even more of a whimper than it already is.
My Un-American ass saw that last one and thought "hang on, why is 'persecution' among those others?" So I looked it up and it's short for "personal information security" 😅
Been talking shit online about the government for at least two decades. I am probably fucked if they really want to start digging anyway. So, I guess there's no going back now...

Or maybe I don't understand what you mean.
