Probably because my mother went through nurses training before the time of antibiotics. For 3 days my fever was over 104…up to 106. I was in ice baths for hours and hours just to get it to 104, then the measles finally popped and my temp dropped to 102. I was 6 and remember it all.

Why didn't grandparents who know what life was like before vaccines for childhood diseases were invented, not talk to their families? At 77, I remember those days. Go to any cemetery where children are buried and make note of the dates. My child never had any of those diseases she was vaccinated.

I recently found that out. My wife and I were getting shots from a travel nurse for our three month trip to Asia. Got all the regulars - tetanus, hepatitis, etc, when she asked about MMR. Neither of us had any boosters since childhood.
