Okay, because I'm a bit of an idiot, what it alt text for? I keep seeing it as just putting a text description on a picture and I'm only now realizing I don't know who it's designed to help. #accessibility

Alt text is used primarily by folks who use screen readers. So people who are blind or have low vision. The screen reader will read the text in place of the image.
