i understand the pushback to "joy is an act of resistance" shit but also making yourself too miserable to do anything at all alongside the mindset of "if i DON'T do this im a bad person" is also decidedly not an act of resistance.

we live in an era where "doomscrolling" is a commonly used word. like. feeling grief & mourning the time we've wasted as people being smushed by the empire is important. posting "we're cooked" 5 times a week is not. it would never be an "act of resistance" because you aren't even resisting it.
Thank you for this. I was burying into a mindset of thinking that sticking to my weekend plans was selfish and wrong and this helped me shake some of that
I just can't deal with the "we're so cooked" stuff. Acknowledge it if you must ("you" like the impersonal) but holy shit if you think this barrel has a bottom you are so sorely mistaken
I would say maybe neither of those are resistance. Like sure joy can help you resist but when we talk about resistance I think we should actually be doing something
