I don’t think they’ll have helped out #10, which as far as they’re concerned has been captured by Bolsheviks. Information probably took a more circumlocutious route.

Oh I agree; I was thinking much more of the inevitable high pitch online beef not noticed by 99.9r% even of the people who know a minister has just been sacked.
Ah yes. Beef issues are going to be complex: he's alienated just about everyone over the years I think (with the last plausible people who might have been interested in defending him being... er... some of the people he was slagging off, apparently). A real placeholder junior minister.
Johnson would have ignored it, then claimed that it was fake news, then said that was real but didn’t matter, then said he was sad, then said he’d had a private apology and considered the matter closed, then sacked him.
