I start with a circular layout and then run force Atlas 2 for 600 iterations. It's using Graphology for the graph layout helpers. There's probably a cleaner way to do it, I'm not sure if there's a more hierarchical layout engine they provide or if I should write one myself. SigmaJS does the render

a traditional hierarchical tree gets really wide really fast with these threads so you have to side scroll real hard or they get super long. I might fuck around with another layout tonight though.

I tried writing like 4 different kinds of hierarchical layouts but they were way too densely packed to be readable without an insane amount of zooming on the hellthread. Weirdly enough I think FA2 makes it easiest to fit the information in densely without being impossible to follow threads.

That's what I'm doing already with ForceAtlas2, it ends up super randomized though since there are so many connections and no weight to them. Maybe if I weighted the edges somehow inversely proportionally with the depth it could work better.

I'd always reach for TypeScript over JavaScript since it's a lot easier to read/write and come back to later. TypeScript is a superset of JS and transpiles into JS via `tsc`. Most larger projects and libraries are making use of TS or moving to TS because it's a more sustainable way to code.
