I've been thinking about this a lot. The idea that saying "the things you're doing are bad" is the same as "being a boy is bad," is more than a messaging issue. It's a belief system issue. The reason they think saying "stop violating boundaries" means "boys are bad" is they associate them together

The same reason people think "anti-racist" means "anti-white." But it's not the group victimized that's making that connection. Men are saying "these are attacks on manhood." And that's only true if you associate your manhood with not respecting other people and their boundaries.

And it's wild because the same men will fold up when i offer to handle things "like men." So it's not just boys, it's men struggling with consequences. And that goes back to the idea that "boys will be boys" means accepting any and all behavior from boys as long as it's not feminine.
