So, the allegations are related to how the judge was running her own courtroom. Not to a ruling the the government didn’t like but to her conduct as a judge—which is a very serious red line. Judges have broad discretion on the bench to run their courtrooms.

The whole issue was that there was no warrant. So what obligation would judge Dugan have to hold him if there was no warrant? I mean, legally, a judge can probably make you wait around if she wants on some generic pretext, but she doesn’t have to cover ICE’s ass in this case, AFAIK.

They’re construing letting the guy leave while ICE was gone because they didn’t bring the proper paperwork as interference, like she body-checked the officer. I doubt this will fly in court.

1) Judges like other judges and dislike people who push judges around, 2) The state’s argument is almost certainly bullshit. If ICE didn’t have authority to hold him yet, I don’t know why the judge had any obligation to hold him.
