I am also wondering if it is a change in distribution as opposed to manufacturing. I would think a retailer needs to know how much Nintendo can send them before starting the orders.

The invitation system in the US has seemingly not changed. It still says May 8.

You’re missing the point. Nintendo consoles have always been the family console. No one is buying a $450 console for their 8 year old. Neither are casual gamers. This is why people are reacting this way. It’s against the norm and they know it, otherwise they would have said the price in the direct.

The average gamer is 35 years old. A lot of Nintendo fans are adults that grew up playing their games. Not saying it won’t hurt sales, higher prices always do, but considering inflation, the threat of tariffs, and the performance and features of the console itself, $450 it a reasonable price.
