wait a day or two and read a longer, thought out piece by a writer you trust. that way, the shit has settled a little and you can actually find out what is really happening, instead of just having "IT'S ALL HORRIBLE!!!!!" blasted into your skull 24/7.

obviously, context matters. if you're a federal employee, then yeah you should probably be keeping up with the moment to moment shit that's affecting your life. if, say, los angeles is on fire and you live there, it's a good idea to keep refreshing to see if you should evacuate

something that helped me a lot was turning off retweets. I miss out on a few funny jokes, but I also don't have to see the same headline quote posted by five different resistance accounts with captions like "shameful!" and "why wont the dems DO anything about this?"
