How can anyone hate The song of Achilles? It is a wonderful read, a great love story. It is so beautifully written.

omg I loved if we were villains and I found a lot of the hate kinda stupid. a good amount of of people complaining were saying that it's just the secret history but worse so I've started tsh to compare but it is incredibly dense LOL. I feel u with the "wait why do yall hate this"

ive seen a lot of people say it's a cheap copy of tsh which is not true. not every dark academia book with a friend group is tsh's copy 😭 i also saw someone say the way oliver's sister was made into a villain bc of her ed was inhumane and 1) she wasn't made into a villain +

2) yes, the way oliver treated her ed was rude but that's literally the point. oliver isn't completely a good person. he has done and said tons of stupid things throughout the book and this is just how his character is supposed to be. if you cant handle a flawed character maybe don't read the book?+

there are going to be "bad" characters but that doesn't make the book bad itself. i saw a tweet saying it had racial undertones and im confused? did i miss something cause i didn't notice anything like that. thats mainly why im rereading it

agree w all ur points tbh. i also missed the undertones but if i had to guess before rereading-- the book takes place in 1997 and is told from oliver's pov, which, like u said, is flawed. i wonder how much is truly undertones and how much is attempting to characterize w/ respect to the time period
