I only share pics of my kids on the web on my locked instagram. meta, to juice its numbers, now makes you opt out of sharing to threads now so i avcidentally posted thanksgiving pics to threads before realizing i had to switch off a setting i had never switched on to protect my family’s privacy.

Google, for its part, now has some dark GUI in that about once every week, when I open Photos, it defaults to selecting "backup your library". You have to click it off, to a grayscale image, to say "proceed WITHOUT backup"..

Have anyone else started receiving the 'ad-break' function? I have never received a better reason to stop using instagram all together.

I have not posted anything for a long time, but the meta single post to all function is incredibly annoying to people who want to keep the environments separated.

Yes, but in some sense what happened was simply that they did to Instagram the same thing that they did to FB. One thing that I was thinking is that in Amazon and Google enshitification was following a change in leadership, other than Mosseri replacing Sandberg that didn't happen with FB/Meta

On top of all of the evil shit, it's just really annoying that the internet is not allowed to have a high-quality social network for sharing photography. Please don't message me of the alternatives, I've tried them and none of them are able to gain relevance, because instagram exists.

But Meta is set up to do exactly what Mosseri is doing. Unlike that fellow who destroyed Google Search, Mosseri isn't destroying something that needs to be preserved.

I'm so angry about this! Instagram in its early days was everything I would want a social app to be and do. Every stupid crufty added feature and algorithm tweak took us further away from that Eden.
