The problem is the players. High tempo football and messaging from the same manager - 3 year shelf life at best. Unless sure entire squad has been refreshed, he’s toast.
Then what ? Start the cycle again, get a new head coach in who won’t want half the players. Levy has to stick with Ange and see it through. I think if he sacks Ange I’m done, I can’t start another cycle and then another 18 months on.
Like it or not, we’ve lost more than anyone bar the bottom three. We’ve had injuries but made next to no adjustment in our overall play. We don’t have a settled midfield. 2 points from a possible 27. Form isn’t loads better when the main CBs are fit.
If he turns it round from here it’ll be a miracle. I really like him, but we’ve gone backwards not forwards. Hope I’m proved wrong, because it’ll mean we’re winning and could even get a pot
It’s also not starting again completely. There’s coaches that can work with these players and still recruit more to add layers. The manager is part of the project, but not the project itself.
I think we’re kidding ourselves if we think any new manager will come in, get the players he needs and not get sacked after 18 months, project or no project. I’m pro Ange but not blind to issues but also not blind to the fact that we have had key injuries at the same time. Sack him. Nothing changes.
It’s not like (as far as we know) the players have given up on Ange, what’s to say that they replace him and bring someone else in and they don’t like how they’re being asked to play ?
Klopp was able to turn it around at Dortmund in the second half of his final season there. It doesn't take a miracle, just players coming back from injury and putting up a fight. The owners of Dortmund expressed regret when they lost Klopp at the end of that season.
Will sacking Ange mean every player comes back from injury?
you think they are lying about their injuries?
this guy got us 5th in his first year with a bunch of injuries but no where near this many. he's shown that he can't do it, he needs to be able to rotate players.
Also, we're far better when the starting defense is fit. 'Form' is something people use to obscure what they're actually talking about, but Spurs went from being a top 3-5 defenses in the Prem (by GA and xGA) and top scorers (by G and xG) to being one of the worst defenses after the CB injuries.
The project shouldn't revolve around a manager. The project should revolve around a style of play that include a manager and players who resemble that.
Sacking Ange isn't an issue. But you need to replace him with someone who gets the best out of his squad and plays high pressing great football.
That's the whole point of having a DoF. I'd like to think this project would have seen us sign Gray, Bergvall, Kinsky regardless. Because they suit our vision.
What you don't do is put an end to all that by hiring a Mourinho/Conte type.
I’ll give you that it should revolve around a style of play. I will ask then, mainly just curious, who would you like them to bring in? Doesn’t have to be a big name or an existing manager in the PL. Mainly because I’m trying to think beyond say Thomas Frank who would fit the attacking mold.
Exactly this. But this time we don’t have two generational players in you try to guarantee wins you things so I can’t see us going down that road. Whatever you think about Levy he isn’t stupid. There is a plan in place and maybe it’s not AP that sees it through but you don’t rip it up and start over
Most managers that consistently win trophies in the Premier League don't see their teams sit 14th after 21 games and closer to relegation than they are to 8th place.
you didn't answer the question, I know why you didn't answer the question, its because what you suggest isn't reality. But instead of actually owning you're wrong, you deflect with a point that doesn't include any context.
Or the new guy gets more out of them than the current manager is.
The risks run both ways though. No guarantees a new manager could do that. But there's also no guarantee Ange turns this round and we continue to go backwards.
Obviously they’ll do a review at the end of the season, and unless there’s a trophy in the cabinet then I suspect the ‘cons’ list will be much larger than the ‘pros’.

You are a strong and confident person!
I once crowned my self the greatest mind in finance… I was off my face on snowballs at the Tasco warehouse in Plumstead back in 91 tho.
I admire your gusto
- we've just come off a brutal run of games and the next four are a little easier
- injured players starting to return
- maybe another signing(s)
the path would be 'arsenal was the low point', kick on from here (top 4 in form table by EOS), and a cup final.

Not just because of his Bournemouth tenure either but I've been following closely since his Rayo days.
Gets the absolute most out of what he has. Improves players. Superb out of possession team. Really enjoyable football.
Show me an example of Premier League teams that have won trophies that have maintained a specific style WITHOUT sticking with a specific manager?
In fact, most wouldn't even be in a job.
Why should any project revolve around the manager? The manager should simply fit the vision of the club and those who make decisions.
But that manager actually needs to be getting results.
The risks run both ways though. No guarantees a new manager could do that. But there's also no guarantee Ange turns this round and we continue to go backwards.
With that 1 win coming against one of the worst teams in the leagues history? Really?

Difficult to recover from here.
