Why is this a story? Who gives a crap if Caitlin “liked” Taylor Swift’s post about supporting Kamala Harris’ bid to be president. Millions of others also liked it. If she chooses not to reveal her political preferences, that’s her right. Move on

I'll just observe that a lot of folks care about what celebrities think, and Caitlin Clark, being white in business that codes as black, attracts a lot of white supremacists as supporters, who then feel warranted to police her behavior as the price of their support.

I think it's a question of ubiquity. The WNBA is the pinnacle of women's sports in the US & it's all over the mainstream sports/news. They're attracted to women, but demand that women in public meet their needs. They're essentially the entire audience for the "Extreme Football League."

She definitely has the air of "Great White Hope" being cast upon her, and given that one's income in that job generally comes primarily from endorsements, it's likely wise to stay on the sidelines in political matters so as not to offend one side or the other.
