BART offers a variety of discounts. All discounts are set up in advance through Clipper. A little work up front helps you save money.

My clipper card doesn't seem to work as well with these as the old ones. Is the sensor less sensitive? Before I could leave my card in my wallet, now I have to take it out and that's not on the top of my list of things I want to do while riding BART

That is because of card clash. These new gates will be able to accept a contactless credit/debit card for payment once the Next Generation of Clipper comes online later this year.
