I understand why that feeling persists. But this isn't how you ever get back to a functional democracy historically speaking. And to a degree - it still is functional because the judges are ruling against EOs (due to their illegality) and the executive branch is so far mostly following, if slowly.

Once the executive branch fully starts ignoring judgements they don't like, then our government is non-functional as a democracy. While we may (most likely) get to that point, its not crossed the line yet. Though it initially appeared so with the NIH funding freeze - that was reverted today

Yes - and each of these actions will have their legality challenged. Many will be overturned (and already have) because its a clear overreach of the Executive Office, that as of now, isn't in total control.

EO's legalities are challenged under all presidents, its just they are more stark now

Also - hospitals that stopped under 19 trans care are rolling back and giving care now. The Army just said no to the trans DOD ban, etc.

It's still a semi-functional democracy at this point, its just in the process of extreme strain and under attacks from many vectors.
