This cover alone was why my catholic mom threw out my first set of books my older cousins gave me. Still have and saved my 1st printing of deities and demigods though

It wasn't the first one, probably one of the late 79 ones as I bought it in 1980 via Games Workshop in the UK. One of my friends, who was at Welbeck ( Army ) College was given his the year before from a fellow student, so that was an earlier 79 version than mine. Thanks for the info.

I looked at the indicia on mine. Had to crack out a magnifying glass because DAMN can we choose a smaller font please? Mine says "Revised Edition - December, 1979".

It's a used copy I picked up at some point. Someone sort of laminated the cover with a weird textured contact paper.

Funny - my mom covered my with clear contact paper as well (and still in decent shape even). Protecting books with contact paper was a thing then…
