I’m horrible at pricing. If I was selling anyone else’s work I’d be defiant that it was worth top dollar and then some. When it comes to my own I’m paralyzed by self doubt, guilt, and give it away because I’ve either put in more time than anyone would pay or I don’t want to think about it.
I think every artist needs an agent/advocate. Someone who understands the value of skill development, places value on time invested, prices in material costs, and leaves me completely out of the conversation.
Pricing is so hard! I price most things at $25/hour. But labor intensive hand embroidered items would cost way too much at that rate, so then I resort to the best guess method 🤫. And I normally sell out of the gallery where I'm a studio artist, so their cut has to be figured in.
