Civ7 earlygame seemingly combines Barbarians w/ City-state relations. EVERY C-S is hostile until you use influence points to win them over, so you have to actively choose which geographic front is more important

Kinda just assumed that I’ll end up putting 100s of hours into it as a way to value-proposition/justify my impatience 😅
Heads up that the changes are a bit jarring at first, but I’m sure it’ll just be a matter of adaptation over time
1) it’s even more difficult now
2) it’s more strategic now, which at least offers some skill expression
You can also use influence to incite raids on opposing civs…especially if they settle too close to your borders
Ages are basically like Pit Stops on The Amazing Race where they do a soft reset of culture, tech, military and trading routes, but you keep your geographic presence.
Whoever completes questlines unlocks advantages in the next age. Win conditions unlock in age 3
