In short: the battle takes place in an infinite loop in a battle scene. Player turn > enemy turn (if still alive) > after turn healing (if both alive) > after turn damage (if both alive). The loop breaks when victory, loss or escape occurs. Gold and EXP are given when the loop breaks from a victory.

The enemy index is set to a global variable before battle. In the battle scene there are multiple scripts that look up things such as enemy accuracy and damage, based on their level, using the current enemy index value. Weapons, spells and items all have an index value too and work similarly.

So is the enemy index almost like an object where it has a bunch of properties and values? Does GB Studio even support object-oriented programming or is it a bunch of variables? Still very new to GB Studio yet

Enemy index is a number from 0-20. For example, a slime might be #4. I have scripts that store enemy stats. If I was battling that slime, I will call on the accuracy script to get the accuracy stat of enemy #4, which is the slime, and it will return their accuracy value. Same for all other stats.
