I get that. But scaring people with false information doesn't make us any better than the Felon supporters, especially when the truth is as bad as it is.
"Critics .... also said people relying on Medicaid could get insurance from other sources, such as their workplace. "
People who receive Medicaid cannot afford health insurance. They are POOR. I wish these Congresspeople would learn the details of the programs they're talking about destroying.
I've spoken to three irl people today (two old/er & one with a child) and they're already scared sh*tless. Fear mongering doesn't help. I'm not saying you are doing that. I'm saying the info has to be accurate and the account who made the 880 billion claim wasn't.
Honey, I'm an irl person of social security age who also depends on Medicaid. I am scared sh*tless, too. That article was a mess with confusing data. And didn't really tell me anything concrete. Sooner or later, I'll get a letter. Then we'll figure out what to do.
Here's a fact check on the 880 #. While double checking to see if I was misspeaking or not I did notice there are new articles saying some GOP are not on board w/Medicaid cuts that deep. That said I was conflating the Ways & Means totals w/cuts to Energy & Comm.
Here is one document in that archived piece I posted. I can't figure out how to post the link but if you click on the word circled in red below in the Business Insider piece gives you a specific list suggested by WMC. But Politico is reporting they're still negotiating.
Was gonna say, if a hypothetical monarch ever wanted wanted to nationalize some fruit holdings, some Americans would probably take a good crack at it at least.
The Crown which even then had very little power. The PM and parliament had it in practice. George III had more power than Charles does now, but was still largely a figurehead.
Everyone who was making noise about gun rights are on the side of the tyrants. It was always performative, they just wanted their flashy bang bang toys.
Yeah, pretty much.
But now, I don't hold much hope for rule of law in the 'land of the free' when you have those two chucklefucks running the place. So there's gotta be SOMETHING done.
"Oh, why can't anyone do something?" say the people with more guns than some active warzones...
The problem is, the people who actually believe in law and order and a functional society are expecting the Fash to play by The Rules.
Uh... spoilers... π¬
As an American, I don't even understand why Americans want to be part of this country. Many don't but likely can't afford to leave, expat, or go to another country willing to offer them what they can't get here.
Every poor American is an embarrassed millionaire. Also, people are tired and don't know what to do or how to do it also, white washing of history. Peaceful protests are the way to resolution and our own stratified sense of self brought on by capitalism stripping a person of the real and imposing
Symbols of "morals" onto a person.
We're more civilized now, violence is for the past and the poor.
Plus I read this book by some English guy who said the moment violence is seen people lose their appetite for revolt.
But hey, it's maybe time for a cheat day
Iβm hungry for blood and sick of wasting my life for them. I want to farm but they make it either impossible or illegal in some cities. Living of grid is also illegal too. Feeling like violence is the only voice the rich can hear.
That's a good point, they really do punish you for wanting to do something outside of their structures.
I dunno there's plenty of DIY guillotine guides online
Multiplying the amount of bread and circuses compared to the old days. But even millions of channels of free entertainment won't work when people are genuinely starving.
cutting Medicaid is just going to lead to more uninsured people showing up at emergency rooms and making healthcare costs more expensive for the rest of us.

Granted they failed but there have been attempts.
Personally I lack funds and resources to try.
Our police are just waiting for a reason to unload into a crowd.

There's no level at which this "isn't as bad"
I find it especially annoying when non right wingers do it.

Like Kobe beef they are well fed and pampered
They're literally just gutting it.
And now everyone is weirdly quiet about the 2nd Amendment π

No, I do not care to elaborate.
