Kinich's og VA wasn't a union member so they got fired for simply not working for 6 months. In any company if you stop working for one week you're fired.

It's not really a union focused on video games. Unfortunately video game voice actors aren't powerful or numerous enough to have their own union, and it's a problem. The requirements are comically easy for those working even as background characters in the movies.
He is kinda different, in brazil we already had a "VA culture" of knowing voice actors kinda like japan. Sad to see how US born VAs are treated as lower class then, acting is acting no matter what its difficult and requires training and study.
Voice actors just have to work one day in a speaking role in a union production. That's it. That's how incredibly rare it is for anime dubs or video game dubs to be union productions.

As Khoi Dao (Albedo VA) has said, many non-union actors have joining the union as a career goal.
