To the extent that you could put it on one group, it would be Silent Gen (it's literally in the name lol), primarily bc they came of age during McCarthyism. They were conditioned to be paranoid about someone either spying, lying, or snitching on them and passed that aversion down

Boomers actually have the opposite problem IMO. They fully see politics as an indicator of personality - and they think they're always right -
The Boomer message isn't so much 'don't talk about it' as it is 'don't you dare disagree with me in front of company,' but the end result is more or less the same
