I rewrote the new project's beginning from scratch yesterday, kept poking at it, and a day later I'm two scenes and almost 5k words into it. I'm tentatively pleased.

(of course, I have my traditional dialogue problem of dueling smartasses, which pads the word count significantly. 😂)
