In elementary school, I went to a county school and it was in the middle of fcking nowhere. The bus ride was 45 min which was absolutely brutal. I checked this book out and and it got me thru that bus ride, cause I held onto it for like 7 straight months and daydreamed in it non stop
"I knew this fine individual, and they wanted to be a boon to the community to the very end. Never met anyone with a healthier diet, wouldn't you know."
Its nice, til theyre jumping on the gutter outside my bedroom window and wont let me sleep in cuz they want their bfast walnuts haha im hoping it pays off in "lose dog" alerts when walking my dogs 🙂
Hand up ! 🙋 grew up on Miffy, Richard Scarry, Crystal Tips and Alistair, Hectors House, Mary, Mungo and Midge, Mr. Ben… and of course The Magic Roundabout ! happy days 🌞
Most likely lol 😂 I think most were made in UK but I read the Richard Scarry books, we didn’t get the animation. The Magic Roundabout was dubbed into English but I bought the record when I was older and it seemed quite true to the French. My dad said each character was based on a recreation drug !
No; it’s the world we wish we’d spent our miserable lives building.
Like detachment and irony felt cool at the time, but a non-car dependent world with meaningful employment in small businesses was right there in our grasp.
One of my greatest regrets is not buying this exact hat on top of a Austrian mountain way back when I road my bike across that country. It was so cool. It was also like 4 days worth of travel money.
Man we have everything to have it be like that but unfortunately a huge portion of the world population are apathetic spineless jellies who allowed a horrible minority of the world to flourish and spread their cruelty and hatred. So depressing.
The big disappointment of life is when you realize that all the childrens stories where the strong protect the weak, the good are rewarded and the bad greedy people actually get punished are a big fat lie.

We have a cool kids game where we have a whole village you play a game in.

Lied to us
I’m going to have to look a few of those up!
FYI, there’s a Miffy museum in Utrecht you should check out if you ever pass through. It’s so lovely
I really like the game https://bookshop.org/p/books/richard-scarrys-busytown-eye-f/25e7be4a61d1f170?ean=0810558010174&next=t&srsltid=AfmBOopM-DXMhPn50C62GAs-4PMaYD741eVqPzRxRk3U4xVApCgFe_3m7oc&gQT=2
Maybe it’s just the Netherlands…
Let’s start small and connect some parks with pedestrianized areas in between. Let people exist between leisure and commerce
It’s a good thing for everyone but the car companies
That’s sad funny but so true
Why this post went viral (for me) is a mystery?!?

I am brainstorming how to create some of these as art bikes for burning man. On my head a lot lately.
Any suggestions on how to make a pickle bike?
fantastic ideas are flowing right now
My buddy found one
"This type of dense, walkable, mixed use neighborhood is illegal to build in much of the United States..."
Let’s promise to make it better
I have a request. Can you find a way to encourage a little bit of your own Busytown to evolve into something a bit more like this?
Even just email your city council person about how your world would be more peaceful with if it was just a bit more like this?
I have posted some other stories in the past. let me find one for you
I often am put in situations where I have to be the strong protector of the weak (children riding bikes usually)
I hate confrontation and do not like that I am forced to play this role.
Its just something I have come to understand as my role.
Parts of it don’t age perfectly, but on a whole it’s pretty awesome
