I read that differently. He knew David would adore Louis and would be strong & responsible enough to care for him whilst he had his existential crisis. They’re the polycule I imagine w/ Armand drifting in-out. Whatever the current dynamic, the unspoken agreement is Louis has to be cared for.
This happened at the end of TotBT, in very early 90s. David showed up at the townhouse on his own, after he’d be turned, without telling Lestat, having already bonded in some way with Louis. For an existential crisis, are you meaning post-Memnoch at the end of the 90? Or maybe Im misunderstanding?
Yup. David knew to go to Louis directly. I only meant that fans tend to pit Louis & David against each other like David was some affair. I don’t read it that way. Louis knew of David & Lestat’s friendship. I think David always had a measure of respect and love for Louis.
