That's one of those songs that, like, it might be about a video game and the situation there...but there's a much wider context to it and it's also just good in its own right. Top tier stuff.

I'm so glad I'm not alone there! I think that song is too melancholy to be sang as upbeat as it was. Disturbed has a few covers that are better than or as good as the originals. my 2nd favorite band!
I think the upbeat version is more dystopian, like everything is like this but we have to act like things are fine anyway so it feels wrong on my skin. But I think it's supposed to feel wrong. Idk 🤷♀️
I'm aware haha, just didn't agree with the underlying tone the original used to portray it. Nothing against Simon & Garfunkel, fantastic musicians. Just didn't like the best they chose. :)
As much as I like the original this is by far the best version of the song. Paul Simon also did a solo version of Sound of Silence which I personally like more than the Simon and Garfunkel one though that might be controversial to some.
Excellent selection, Alex. I’ve loved this one for many years! It’s amazing and so powerful. I was listening to Howard Stern and he played this song. Saying how much he loved it. I loved it then and there. You can check the vid on YouTube.
You may already know these songs but I only just discovered the title track from The Cure’s album Disintegration. What a great and haunting track. Plus Voices Carry by Til Tuesday. Has an awesome video too with a powerful ending. 👍🏻😊
