I just got a pop quiz going through TSA. The agent read me three flight numbers and asked me which one I was on π this has never happened to me in my last decade of heavy travel

I once had a TSA agent glance at my ID and say, "I'm sorry, this is expired."
I had renewed that ID less than a month earlier. I looked her straight in the eyes and said, "No, it's not."
"Yeah, I'm just kidding."
Glad to know our country's most serious people are working to prevent another 9/11.
there's *tiny* chance this was a trained-probe to check for certain reactions. (but probably just someone trying to distract themself from the monotonous job.)
also FYI: TSA policy is to accept true gov IDs as still-adequate for travel-ID purposes for a full year after their stated expiration.
if the person seemed to be a curious & trained interrogator, there's a style of security-screening βΒ most associated with Israel & firms teaching their tactics elsewhere β that emphasizes challenging Qs & a close reading of your reactions (over & above content) to detect ill/deceptive intent. β¦

in Iceland's airport a couple years ago, I encountered a team of security asking variety of challenging (& in some cases quite-intrusive) Qs working the check-in line, then same folks again past main screening near boarding. senior folks had Israeli accents, & seemed to be training locals.
