I first remember him from Shōgun. A MUST watch in the early 1980s. Brit TV had each episode once a week, so if you missed it, you missed it, unless you had a VTR. No binge watch, kids.

I don't remember much of Dr. Kildare - my brothers preferred comedies and sci-fi's in the early 60's, and I watched what they watched - but I met Chamberlain in "The Thorn Birds" and "Shogun." Had my own TV by that time, see.

As a teenager, I used to tell my barber to just cut my hair enough to get by the school principal... that's why I got kicked out, three weeks before graduation. ;) F*ck'em all, I had already enlisted in the US Army under the Delayed Enlistment Program! :)
