They had me at prevents getting shingles.

I’ll admit that the Shingrix vax gave me the worst side effects I’ve ever had from a vax, and by worst I mean one day of shivers and low energy. Not a big deal.

Yeah, we had a client come in to our office after recovering from shingles, and she was adamant that we not repeat her mistake by not getting the vaccine. So I made my appointment right away. That I might benefit in other ways is bonus.

If you read the article, it indicates that the vaccine that was the subject of the study was _not_Shingrix, which is the shingles vaccine that most people have gotten recently.

True, but if the benefit is derived from suppressing the virus, as opposed some specific vax composition, then that vax is also good. Hopefully further studies expand and compare different vaxxes.

This is really exciting, but they were studying live-attenuated herpes zoster #vaccination. The Shingrix vaccine currently in use in the United States is a recombinant subunit vaccine. That makes it safe for those of us who are #immunocompromised, but I wonder if it will have the same effect?

My wife and I got ours a couple of years ago. Avoiding shingles was more than enough reason. This is just icing on the cake. To bad the the HHS secretary, Worm Brain, will make vaccines unavailable for the rest of us.
