I'm retired from a blood center. Most of what we used to draw donors comes from China. Count on being charged more for blood units.

I've donated blood platelets well over 200 times. That took as many saline units.

This last hurricane season took out two major on shore manufacturers. Hurricane Maria took out facilities making prefilled bags, empty bags, as well as the entire US supply for certain medications (and impacting our supply of most drugs to variable extent).
