AI hype is poisoning academia, it's undermining learning, it's making research harder, it's corrupting knowledge, it's eroding scholarly norms, and it's monopolising funding & opportunities. It's a shame those with the power to change this aren't committed to valuing universities in the right way.

Looked at philjobs.org lately? 26/187 jobs want AI ethics as an AOS or AOC. That's 14% or nearly 1 in 7- and 17 of those are tenure track! This ratio won't reflect the current batch of early career scholars, so weaker candidates who are luckily in fashion are more likely to be hired.
