As someone who works in healthcare & takes care of people with disabilities, as a person with a disability myself, ableism amongst fellow professionals IS a problem.
I can still be a nurse with my disability. But sometimes, I'm questioned online that I'm less of one because I work outpatient. /1

Too often people with disabilities have been made to feel that their disability was the problem. It never was- the real problems are inaccessibility, exclusion, lack of understanding and ableism.

So I decided to go work in an outpatient dialysia clinic, where at least I'd have the opportunity to have better accommodations. /4
So what am I getting at here? In the intersection of disability, healthcare, & economics, despite having the same knowledge & skill base as my able bodied peers, I chose to pursue outpatient, tertiary care to protect my health. /6
