And basically irrelevant. The buying power of the US dollar in the US and the buying power of the Canadian dollar within Canada are largely similar. It's more like about $8.50 when buying power is factored in.
When I was a kid we got $1.10 in USD for every Canadian $. We used to pile in the car and go back to school shopping in the US and come back with a car load.
12 years ago the USD was on par with the Canadian dollar and at times worth less than the Canadian dollar.
How long will it take Trump to push the USD into the sewer?
In 6 months we will have a better idea.
And it's only abysmal if you want to travel to the US.
Spend your money in Canada!
Thrills. Nothing like going to... Name a place... and not knowing if you'll be the victim of some random asshole off their meds who just purchased an 80 rpm force multiplier and a couple hundred rounds of ammunition.
I’ll always be a proud Canadian but those stats are a little misleading. Pretty sure rent/mortgages in Canadas major cities is higher and American wages have surpassed ours. Lots of natural resources, small population thats more educated than any country. We shud be kickin ass! Lots of work to do
Another thing the cheeto felon is wrong about. By all counts, Canada is working pretty well as a country. Maybe the orange-fascist fuck should focus on the 50 states he already has.
We need nothing from the US! There are now so many victims of Trumps delusional tarriffs that we now have lots of other countries to trade with. We will establish new trade agreements! Soon, when the US economy collapses when they can't even meet their own orders. We will be fine!!
One is an advanced first-world democracy with a strong socio-economic foundation that allows society to flourish and prosper. The other one is the United States.
Mine is $5k + copays + maximum out of pocket and $200k p/mo premiums. The insurance company stopped covering certain meds and podiatry, among other things, this year as well.
Our US ACA-sponsored insurance cost is over $4,000/m for 2 of us. It’s a “platinum plan,” but has a $6k annual deductible, $45 co-pays for office visits, and a 20% ‘co-insurance’ cost.
It also routinely denies recommended care, medical equipment reimbursement, & several of our required medications.
