Yeah, that was probably more the ignorant national media than the team. The organization and the fanbase that actually took the time to watch his every snap saw this potential in him. The media narrative is a large part of why Bills Mafia is a thing. Happens to Bills players too damn often.
There was talk the first couple years of his career when he was throwing picks pretty frequently that maybe they should move on from him. Then I think it was year 3 it kinda clicked and he got some players to help.
Yeah that really wasn't true, at least around here. You always had the national people who hated on him and the one-offs who were still trying to be "right" about not wanting to draft him. But it was pretty early in his rookie year he won the area over, there was no call to drop him.
